The Big Questions
|
PROJECT INCEPTIONS |
The creation of each concept connection and project began with the science piece. Using the New York State Science Curriculum as the anchor, we looked for ways to incorporate an aspect of Torah. Once that connection was established, the staff guided students in their research on the topics and helped them create interactive projects to showcase their findings. Math was employed to heighten the projects, often providing real life applications to the researched topics.

Project Building through Technology |
Over the past decade, education has become less about lecturing content and more about helping students develop the skills necessary to become independent learners. The ASHAR Stem Fair allowed students to explore concepts in which they found interest, through a variety of media. Students mixed using non-fiction books, magazines, and encyclopedias with online articles, websites and videos to further their understanding of topics.
Do to the collaborative nature of STEM, all student work was done in school, with teachers of all subjects on hand to guide and focus the process. Final products were created in our school computer lab where students used a multitude of tools and programs to create reports, graphs, charts, and visuals. |
