- Teacher Orientation: In August of 2014, the STEM idea was presented to the ASHAR teachers during our annual orientation meetings. This initial meeting got teachers excited about the possibilities and they began brainstorming. Teachers broke into small groups to begin planning.
- Back to School Night: Several weeks later, we greeted our parents at Back to School Night. Teachers enthusiastically unfolded the plan with an explanation of how the curriculum both supported and was molded by the concepts.
- Teacher-Meeting: Early in January, we presented the staff teachers with a introductory timeline. Through February and March teachers met with each other, administration and students to solidify program ideas. Teachers guided students by giving them project options. Throughout this period, we kept staff informed with general school-wide and specific grade progress reports and project layout.
- Post-Pesach, our efforts intensified. We spread the word, mostly through social-media. There was much intrigue in the community. Students were given class time to work with their peers and teachers. Rough drafts were tweaked and the excitement began to mount and projects were finalized and presented.
- The Event: On Thursday,May 28th the ASHAR Gym was converted into something amazing. Our students took much pride in helping to display their projects. The set-up was student driven and well executed.
